Preliminary Checks for Electric Vehicles
Only for electric vehicles, while the Service Advisor receives the customer, the Electric Vehicles Specialist (EV Specialist) pre-inspects the vehicle in an outdoor area before the reception in the workshop.
For these preliminary checks, a dedicated, covered area must be set up.
With the support of the Electric Vehicle Preliminary checklist, the EV Specialist performs the following checks:
1. Visual inspection for fire;
2. Presence of smoke;
3. Presence of pungent smell in the battery area;
4. Signs of burning in the high voltage areas highlighted in the pictures below, with special care in the visible battery parts. If possible, open the hood, side doors and rear door to assist with the inspection;
5. Checks for severe mechanical damages (even underbody);
6. Connect the MDEvo to detect the presence of critical errors (see technical documentation)
These preliminary checks are included in the Service Process for Electric vehicles, which describes the flow to be followed when an Electric Vehicle must undergo an intervention, with the aim to minimize possible risks due to the handling of a high voltage battery.
You can find more details on the “Service Process for electric vehicles” in the Circular Letter MAS003876 “Introduction to Folgore”.
If the vehicle is safe, the vehicle entrance in the workshop is allowed and the Service Advisor can perform the vehicle walk-around inspection together with the Customer.
In case the Preliminary checklist fails one or more checks, the vehicle should be put in the “Quarantine area” and the indications reported in the Service Process for electric vehicles must be followed.
