Electric Vehicle Management – Service Requirements

The following training requirements are required of dealers for the handling of electric vehicles.

Compulsory Training for High Voltage (Hv) Technical Personnel

1. Academy training on electric vehicles is compulsory for the following activities:

  • sales, acceptance, servicing, repair, storage/logistics management of Maserati electric vehicles
  • storage, handling and securing of Maserati lithium batteries.

2.  Compliance with local laws/regulations regarding certification/fitness/safety of work on electric vehicles/high voltage work/lithium batteries is the responsibility of the dealer/employer and is a prerequisite for participation in the Maserati Academy Aftersales training on electric vehicles/lithium batteries for personnel.

Dangerous Goods Handling for Battery Return

To organise dangerous goods transport for returning HV batteries, the person must be instructed by attending a specific training course, after which a certificate is issued to ensure compliance with ADR regulations (checking package conformity, affixing the mandatory labels and issuing the ADR document that accompanies the package).

The ADR regulations also make specific reference to the “loader” and the destination warehouse. The latter is responsible for unloading the goods at the destination and checking that all ADR provisions have been complied with by the sender and for reporting anomalies if necessary.

In the case of transport by sea, the shipper must be informed of the IMDG regulations and their requirements similar to those for transport by road.

The courses are organised by legally qualified certified agencies and a certificate is issued to attendees at the end.

Outdoor and Indoor Guidelines

Before entering the workshop, the electrified vehicle must be checked in a Covered outdoor Acceptance area, where the Electric Vehicle Specialist must perform the following controls:

1. Visual inspection for fire;

2. Presence of smoke;

3. Presence of pungent smell in the battery area;

4. Signs of burning in the high voltage areas highlighted in the pictures below, with special

care in the visible battery parts. If possible, open the hood, side doors and rear door to assist with the inspection;

5. Checks for severe mechanical damages (even underbody);

6. Connect the MDEvo to detect the presence of critical errors (see technical documentation)

If the inspection reveals serious problems with the battery or the vehicle, these must be placed in temporary quarantine status, in a dedicated “Quarantine Area”.

Requirements for Quarantine Area

POSITIONING: External Area, at a distance of > 5 m from buildings/vehicles / Open but not exposed to adverse weather conditions / Not accessible by third parties.

PROTECTIVE FLOOR: Prevent any leak of substances from entering drains, pits or sewers.

FIRE PROTECTION: Refer to local regulations
