Reacquired Vehicles
MNA from time to time may determine it is in their best interest to assist an owner by replacing or repurchasing their vehicle. This action may happen as a result of a decision by the BBB AUTO LINE Arbitration Program, or as the result of a settlement of a legal matter. In all cases, the repurchased vehicle must be disposed of in accordance with the requirements of state lemon laws.
The reacquired vehicle (RAV) can be re-sold to a customer, but must be disclosed to the new owner that this vehicle is an RAV. (RAV disclosure form can be found on the Maserati Dealer Extranet, under the forms section). Many states have disclosure requirements in addition to MNA's. You must comply with all requirements imposed by your state for the disclosure of prior vehicle history. In addition, in all states, MNA's disclosure must be given to the consumer before the vehicle is resold, regardless of whether this results in more than one disclosure being given to the customer. Each dealer is responsible for complying with their individual state law requirements, including without limitation, disclosure and title branding.
The Reacquired Vehicle Warranty begins on the date that the vehicle is sold to the subsequent customer. The RAV Warranty covers the vehicle for 12 months and/or 12,000 miles whichever comes first. In the state of California, the RAV Warranty is 12 months and unlimited miles.
The Reacquired Vehicle Warranty does not affect the New Vehicle Warranty limits. The New Vehicle Warranty supersedes the RAV Warranty. Listed below are the three possible scenarios when calculating the warranty on an RAV:
• Vehicles that are outside of the New Vehicle Warranty period would then carry the complete 12 months/12,000 miles RAV Warranty. The coverage is explained in the information to follow.
• Vehicles that have less than 12 months/12,000 miles left on the New Vehicle Warranty would then be covered for the balance by the RAV Warranty. Ex: RAV vehicle that is 42 months and 30,000 miles old would be covered under the New Vehicle Warranty period 4 years/50,000 miles. The RAV Warranty then would cover the vehicle for an additional 6 months of warranty, miles not to exceed 62,000.
• Vehicle that has more than 12 months/12,000 miles remaining on the New Vehicle Warranty would not require an RAV Warranty. The vehicle will be covered during the balance of the New Vehicle Warranty period.
The Reacquired Vehicle Warranty coverage is identical to the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. See New Vehicle Limited Warranty – Section 2.
