Diagnostic and Straight Time
Warranty claims with diagnostic or straight time requested must document all of the procedures used to identify and repair the problem. Test results and all measurements taken must be documented on the repair order (e.g. system diagnosis printouts, battery test readings, brake rotor run out, compression readings, wiring colors, circuit numbers, before/after specifications, etc.). Straight time must be clocked separately per occurrence.
The intent of this policy is to reimburse diagnosis or straight time that is fair, reasonable and is properly documented as follows:
- Assign difficult and intermittent anomalies to the most qualified technicians. Use Maserati Technical Support to facilitate difficult repairs as necessary (this should be done before exceeding 2.0 hours of straight time provided the technician does not know the cause of failure). Document all procedures used to identify service operations that require special diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- In the event that a workshop cannot determine the root cause of the problem and the time required for diagnostics is more than two hours, a Blue On Line report must be submitted as Support Request.
- Documentation must include a separate clocking time that indicates the time required to solve the problem.
- When a testing procedure is performed, the results of the test and measurements taken must be documented on the repair order.
- Always explain why the diagnosis or straight time was necessary in the Notes section of the claim. Do not simply describe the repair. Explain the scope of the work performed and the reasons that made it necessary.
- The straight-time checklist must be included with every request to justify the time being claimed.
Maserati reserves the right to adjust straight time based on industry averages, poor documentation and insufficient technician training.
Never keep a repair order open if the vehicle is not in the workshop. Repair orders need to be closed on the date of the last clocking time.
