Storage of Displaced Warranty Parts
Maserati Americas reserves the right to inspect all parts replaced as a result of a warranty defect. In some cases, MNA will request parts to be returned for inspection and/or testing. In the event that a part received at MNA that is found not to be defective, the corresponding warranty claim will be debited.
Each dealership is required to store all replaced warranty parts in a 10-bin storage system (utilizing the last digit of either the repair order number or VIN). This will allow a dealership, RAM, and/or MNA auditor to quickly locate a part replaced under warranty. Each part must be tagged with the VIN and corresponding repair order number. Dealerships are subject to debit in the event the storage requirement is not followed. Parts must be retained for a period of 30 days after the claim is paid.
Any item not requested to be returned should be scrapped. Parts not requested for return must be retained for a period of 30 days after the claim is paid. After 30 days, the part(s) should be destroyed.
When instructed to scrap and/or dispose of a part, ensure that it is performed in such a manner that prevents their re-use in the marketplace. Failure to incorporate this procedure into the dealer’s standard business practice will result in a full or partial chargeback.
All parts awaiting return to Maserati need to be stored in an acceptable manner. Storage facilities must protect components from exposure to the elements or from avoidable damage. Any warranty parts returned in a rusted or broken condition, caused by improper storage, may be charged back.
