Emission Warranty

The emission control systems on all new Maserati were designed, built and tested using authorized Maserati parts and the vehicle is certified as being in conformity with federal regulations implementing the Clean Air Act. Accordingly, it is recommended that any replacement parts used for required maintenance services or for the repair of emission control system be new, authorized Maserati parts. Use of replacement parts which are not of equivalent quality may impair the effectiveness of such systems, and may void your emissions (and other) warranty.

The following list is only a partial listing of those components affecting emission performance of all Maserati vehicles:

  • Engine cooling system
  • Fuel injection system
  • Air cleaners
  • Air injection system
  • Crankcase Emission Control System
  • Ignition system
  • Spark plugs and wires
  • Valve train
  • Fuel Tank
  • Fuel filler
  • Evaporative Emission Control System
  • Engine Control Module (ECM)
  • Transmission Control Module (TCM)
  • Insulated Exhaust Manifolds
  • Catalytic Converters and Oxygen sensors

Emission Design and Malfunction Warranty – Federal

Maserati warrants to the original purchaser and each subsequent purchaser that the vehicle is designed, built and equipped so as to conform at the time of sale with all U.S. emission standards applicable at the time of manufacture and that it is free from defects in materials and workmanship which would cause it not to meet these standards within the period of 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Maserati continues coverage under new car warranty for 48 months, except for certain specified major emission control components for which the coverage is 8 years or 80,000 miles (whichever first occurs).

Those components currently include the catalytic converter, electronic control unit and the on-board diagnostic computer. Failures other than those resulting from defects in material or workmanship, which arise solely as a result of owner abuse and/or lack of proper maintenance, are not covered by the warranty.

Maserati’s responsibility with respect to claims is limited to making required repairs, including parts, labor, and diagnosis time. No claim of breach of warranty shall constitute a cause for cancellation of the contract of sale of this vehicle. Repairs qualifying under this warranty will be performed by any authorized Maserati dealer within a reasonable time following delivery of the vehicle to the dealer’s place of business during regular business hours.

Emission Performance Warranty – Federal

Some states and jurisdictions have established periodic vehicle inspection and maintenance (I/M) programs to encourage proper maintenance of your car. If an EPA-approved I/M program is enforced in your area, you also may be eligible for Emissions Performance Warranty coverage under the following conditions:

1)   The vehicle must be maintained and operated in accordance with the instructions for proper maintenance and use set forth in the Owner’s Manual, the maintenance schedule and the Owner’s Warranty and Service Book supplied with your new car;

2)  The vehicle fails to conform at any time during a period of 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first, or with respect to specified major emission control components during a period of 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first, to the applicable emission standards of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as judged by an EPA approved I/M test;

3)   The failure to conform will result in the owner of the vehicle having to bear a penalty or other sanctions (including the denial of the right to use the vehicle) under local, state or federal law; and

4)   The vehicle has not been tampered with, misused, or abused. If all of the foregoing conditions are met, Maserati warrants that your authorized Maserati dealer will replace, repair or adjust to Maserati specifications, at no charge to you, any of the components listed on next page or parts thereof, which may be necessary to cause your car not to conform to the applicable emission standards. Parts “Certified to EPA Standards” shall be covered by this warranty. This warranty begins on the date the car is first put into use and continues for a period of 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

The repair or replacement shall be limited to only those components listed below except for certain specified major emission control components for which the coverage is 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Specified major emission control components currently include the catalytic converter, electronic control unit and the on-board diagnostic computer.
