Software Updates

From time to time, Maserati will release new software for specific models and/ or model years. Software updates are not always associated to known defects. Occasionally, software changes are for product improvements and increased functionality. These software updates can be claimed under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty Period, but only during certain circumstances. Listed below are the only circumstances that a software update can be performed under warranty:

• Associated to a part replacement that requires the updated software

• Based on instructions outlined in a bulletin and/or technical documentation

• Recommended by technical support/BOL

• Software Updates can be claimed when it is related directly to a customer complaint

When a software update is performed in accordance to the information listed above, the claim must be listed on a “separate line” on the repair order. As an add-on claim it must be approved by service management. The repair line should state that software levels have been checked and updated to “current production software level” (tech comments must include the before and after software levels).
